DC 37 Retirees Attend NYC, NYS and Regional Labor Events
DC 37 Retirees Association officers and members were on the move in recent months, attending city, state, and regional labor events of interest to retirees and raising our issues where appropriate – including the fight to keep our existing health care plans. Below are summaries and photos of those events.
NYC Labor Day Parade 2022
A large contingent of DC 37 Retirees attended the NYC Labor Day Parade on Sept. 10, 2022. It was a festive occasion. Several groups of laborers attended the parade. It was also an opportunity to convey messages of concern to government officials. DC 37 Retirees Association message about Health Care for Retirees were prominently displayed.
NYS Association of Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic & Asian Legislators, Inc. Conference
The conference theme was "Moving Forward with a Demand for Democracy." Workshops over the course of several days addressed issues of Health Care inequities, Economics & Impact of the Marijuana Industry, Housing Insecurities, Criminal Justice Reform, Enhancing Equitable Distribution of Wealth, and others consistent with the theme of the conference. A delegation of the DC 37 Retirees Association members attended the event and participated in many of the workshops of concern to retirees.
CBTU Region One Conference in Atlantic City
A delegation of DC 37 Retirees attended the recent CBTU Region One Conference in Atlantic City, which they found informative and educational.
