Rosemary Ciulla-Frisone
Rosemary Ciulla-Frisone is a retired New York City Department of Transportation employee who has served in numerous capacities during her 35 years career with the City. In 1999 she was promoted to the Director of the Welfare to Work Transportation Job Access within the New York City Department of Transportation. She also chaired a multi-agency work group to examine the transportation problems of low-income and public assistance users. Her goal was to remove the transportation barriers which allowed mothers with childrento go on interviews for possible employment. Her responsibilities used to be in theTraffic Operations Division, acting as the Community Coordinator for Brooklyn and Queens. She was a liaison for businesses that were concerned with transportation issues. The outcome of her responsibility was to improve their quality of life thereby enhancing the economic viability of their business community and has conducted Commuter Vans Public Hearings throughout the various boroughs.
In 1998, Rosemary Ciulla-Frisone served as the Executive Assistant to the Queens Borough Commissioner. She was the liaison to Community Boards 5, 9, 10 and 14 and to the Office of the Mayors Community Assistance Unit on transportation issues. In that capacity, she worked to implement numerous traffic safety features. Among them, were signs for PS 55, Forest Park, Woodhaven Boulevard, Jamaica Avenue and JHS 210. She is the epitome of what a civil servant should be. She is always willing to go the extra mile in assisting the community as well as other city agencies. In addition, she worked on special projects for the Mayors Office.
Ms. Ciulla-Frisone is actively involved and interested in the political process. As an advocate for sponsoring candidates who believe in justice and as a platform for outlining meaningful targets to improve the quality of life in the community. She is a member of Community Board 10, Chair of the Summer Youth/Other Employment Committee Chair of the Transportation and Highway and Roads Committee and serves on JFK International Committee and Land use Committee and Executive Secretary to the Community Board and recently elected to the Howard Beach Lindenwood Civic as a Board Member.
On June 9, 2000, she received a legislative proclamation as the New York State Senate Woman of Distinction Award from the former Senator Serphin Maltese. For her work in government, she received a Citation of Honor presented by the late Queens Borough President Helen M. Marshall for her extraordinary contributions as a Founding Alumni Delegate of the Queens General and in 2022 was made an honorary member of the Jamaica Rotary Club.
She has served as a Board of Trustee, delegate and on the Health and Safety Committee at the NYC Department of Transportation representing Employees Union Local 371. And a member of Local 371, various committees such as the Women’s Committee, District Council 37 Italian Heritage Committee and was elected as a DC 37 Delegate Council.
